Perplexity launched Teammates on Nov 4–5, 2026 — always-on agents on Computer for Max ($200/mo), Slack-aware, web first. What’s shipping and who it’s for.

Perplexity published Teammates are agents for complex, ongoing work ↗ on November 4, 2026, with a product page at perplexity.ai/hub/products/teammate ↗. The Verge’s Emma Roth ↗ covered the launch on November 5, 2026.
The short version:
Teammates are personal agents for long-running work: they plan, coordinate, switch priorities, and bring results back for review.
They build on Perplexity Computer — sessions, tools, files, Projects, skills, and memory — rather than replacing it.
They can monitor ongoing work, act when something changes, pass work to other teammates, and message coworkers in Slack.
Each teammate runs in an isolated environment with separate browser sessions; saved credentials are encrypted; users can inspect, take over the desktop, or redirect mid-run.
Availability: Max subscribers on the web first; official blog says soon on iOS. Free and Pro users must upgrade via Settings → Account → Subscription.
Price context (The Verge): Max is $200 / month. Roth frames Teammates alongside OpenAI’s Dots and Claude Duet as always-on work agents.
Setup, per Perplexity: sign in on web → Teammates in the left nav → name it → connect plugins (Slack, GitHub, Gmail, etc.) → describe ownership → assign a Project and an initial task.
Official product account:
“Introducing teammates. Teammates work for you. They take on jobs, and work proactively using your Computer tasks, skills, memory, and tools. Teammates collaborate with other teammates and can message coworkers in Slack. Available now for Max subscribers on the web.”

CEO Aravind Srinivas on bootstrapping from what you already have:
“Teammates build on your Projects, Memory, and Skills that already exist in Perplexity and Computer. This allows you to bootstrap from what you already have inside. All your existing connectors, files, and past sessions have already onboarded your teammates.”
Johnny Ho (Perplexity) on the form factor and research-preview framing:
“Today we are rolling out the latest form factor for work: Perplexity teammates… Teammates excel at automating tasks like deep research, data analysis, QA, triaging tickets, and reviewing code… Available to Max users as a research preview today.”

TestingCatalog’s availability note (~214 likes at fetch):
“PERPLEXITY: Teammates, Perplexity's new proactive agents, are rolling out to Perplexity Max subscribers on the web! … Coming soon to mobile apps, too!”
Wes Roth’s plain-English summary:
“Perplexity released Teammates on the web for Max subscribers. Each agent takes on an ongoing job using tasks, skills, memory, and tools from Perplexity Computer. Teammates can act when something changes, hand work to another agent, or message a coworker in Slack.”
We did not dig a dedicated Reddit megathread at research time, so we are not inventing Reddit quotes. Official blog + The Verge + the X posts above are the ground truth for this desk pass.
Already on Perplexity Max / Computer: Teammates are the ongoing-ownership layer on top of session-based Computer work. If you already keep Projects, skills, connectors, and memory in Computer, the bootstrap story from Srinivas is the practical unlock — less greenfield agent setup, more “give this thread a job.”
Teams comparing always-on agents: The Verge’s Dots / Duet comparison is the right frame. Do not treat Max’s $200/mo as a free trial of the category; budget and compliance (Slack, GitHub repo scope, credential isolation) matter more than the launch video. Prefer a single owned workflow (pipeline triage, weekly research, campaign monitor) before spinning up “hundreds of teammates.”
Free / Pro users: Official path is upgrade. There is no documented free Teammates tier in the launch posts we cited.
Mobile: Official blog commits to iOS soon; TestingCatalog says mobile apps are coming. Do not assume Android day-one until Perplexity says so.

AdSense-safe note: we are documenting what Perplexity shipped and how to evaluate it — not recommending any paid Max upsell.
